Harley Benton PJ-5 Deluxe Series Electric Bass Guitar - Hot Rod Trans Red

Pros: Quality of hardware is good. Tuners, bridge, string retainer, strap button and neck joint plate have no play or rattling. Good chrome work too. Choice of wood quality: Nicely figured mahogany, roseacer fingerboard as a replacement for rosewood and maple neck, all feel solid in touch. No sharp or loose fret ends Looks good aesthetically too, excellent finishing both on the glossy and satin parts Quality of electronics is good. No hum or feedback. I use headphones while playing and can hear no extraneous noise. The basic sound is good and can accept processing with ease. Cons: The bass in itself is neck heavy. Figure out a way to counterbalance The pick guard needs to be replaced at the earliest. The pole pieces are not aligned due to its incorrect cut (which does not affect the tone though) and its figure makes the bass look like a salami. Not an issue if you can live with it After adjusting the neck pick up height to your preference, when you play while resting your thumb on it, it jumps every time your fingers hit it. Replace the spring with a stronger one or put a piece of felt under the neck pickups. Again, not an issue if you can live with it Overall, a very good quality bass for the price and is worth an upgrade in future.

Nice Bass

I bought this bass because of its passive PJ style pickups.. I knew that the neck would dive and the pickup would be very weak by reading on reviews.... but the pickups are still weaker than i hope but i was thinking about changing them to American profesional precision and jazzs pickups if i can afford so the original pickups are not a problem to me.... but still they are very usable for Jamming and playing in Church....the tones are very warm and very full too(thats what i wanted) but many noise.... the neck dive its not a problem to me because it doesnt dive that much... the neck shape is very nice and the body response is very good too.... i give this bass 5stars forgetting about the pickups
