For the price, it kills the other bass guitars in the range.

I play a very varied style of music, ranging from jazz influences to death metal, and incorporating the two in a fusion genre. The bass delivers really well for the price. In short- The design is splendid. The build quality does not feel cheap AT ALL. All the knobs, tuners and truss rods are solid and well in place. The sound is very choice-dependent. The bass has a characteristic sound which some may LOVE while others may dislike. PROS-1) Ease of playing- The guitar is crafted really well, and is comfortable in long jam sessions. Really happy with the build quality. However, the battery compartment could have been placed at the back of the guitar, instead of just under the strings right above the neck pickup. 2) Sound- I LOVE the sound. I like a poppy slappy base, with a bit of a natural crunch and scoop. I was surprised when the dry sound of the bass was like how I described in the previous sentence. half an hour of tweaking and I had a monster tone. The "bass" factor in the tone lacks a bit, but the deluxe version of the Tobias Toby Deluxe IV has a "bass boosting" knob which takes care of this, so no complaints really. Its a single coil active pair set up. You cannot expect anything else. 3) This is a jazz bass and not a percussive bass. I prefer a jazz bass, so this counts as positive point for me.4) Appearance- I think this bass is beautiful. No over the top graphics like Cort EVL series. The natural wood finish in the black version which I own is sexy, to say the least. It is a minimalistic beauty, and for me it is the subtle things which makes this guitar beautiful. The design of the headstock appeals to me a lot too. 5) Design- Its smooth. No edgy, pointy places to trouble you while playing live or jamming. The craftsmanship has no compromise. None at all, especially at this price.6) LOOK AT THE PRICE.CONS-These cons are case dependent. This bass is definitely not recommended for HEAVY BASS USAGE. I mean, it is a not a very bassy performer. The ...
