Good

This was my first 5 string electric bass, I bought it to see if I would like a 5 string and it was pretty cheap. I was absolutely blown away by this instrument. It has great sound, action, and feel. My only complaint was that it wasn't a neck-thru but at this price point that is not really even a complaint. I have since moved up to a Stiletto Studio 5 but still use this monster weekly!!

Boasts features of basses costing twice as much!

Schecter have really stepped their game up the last few years. The quality of instruments that they're putting out at these reasonable prices is enough to blow your mind. The Schecter Omen 5 string is a perfect example of that quality. This is probably one of the most comfortable basses I've ever played. I've tried out many Jazz and P basses, a few Ibanezs, and a few Epiphone Thunderbirds, and the Omen just blows them out of the water.Everything on the bass feels very solid, whether it's the six massive bolts holding the neck on or the monstrous bridge, everything feels very well made. The active two band EQ is very versatile, capable of producing everything from fat, round pillowy basslines to biting, twangy guitar-esque tone in the high range. The active EQ and stock Schecter active pickups sound great, and with a little tweaking can produce a variety of good bass tones. The stock pickups also do a great job of keeping the low B string from getting muddy, it rumbles the floor yet still retains it's clarity and definition. The neck is a really great combination of several neck designs, it's got enough wood for you to be able to really dig into slaps or groove licks, but it's thin enough to not feel like you're playing a baseball bat. The balance of the instrument is spot on, as well, it's neither body nor neck heavy, and sits very well with a strap..Overall, this is an extremely satisfying bass. Very versatile, extremely comfortable to play and light on your wallet. Schecter really know what they're doing, and the Omen 5 stringThis bass delivers everything you could ask for. It's ridiculous that the price is this low. I will tell you that you should get a good amp, because the low B on this monster is super demanding.
