EMG KH20 on a Squier Deluxe Strat through a Blackstar HT-1 Combo

Definitely an improvement in sound without question!Increased sustain with a growling distortion. Clarity in notes are impeccable even with full gain. The overall sound definitely has more sparkle and top end than before so take that into consideration before purchasing this item. Also, a lot of the twang and thinness of the strat tone has disappeared especially at the bridge humbucker. Now coming to each pickup individually, the neck pickup is pretty powerful but cleans up beautifully too.Great for rock and hard blues. The middle pickup is best for old school blues in my opinion. Has that twang and SRV feel to it.The humbucker disappointed me very slightly considering the reviews I had read before buying this product. This is because firstly it does not clean up well and secondly it does not 'scream' as much as I had read in reviews. Nevertheless a beautiful pickup when played on high gain and love the growl and added warmth.I hated playing on solid state amps with my old Duncan Designed pickups but now with the KH20, the sound from cheap solid states has dramatically improved as well. And the sound from my Blackstar tube amp is impeccably warm soothing and clear. So to conclude the KH-20 is undoubtedly a brilliant upgrade for any Indonesian or Mexican made Strat to make it gig worthy. I think a SA-SA-85 combination will produce much better results for me but I went with the KH20 because I didn't trust my local guitar techs to do the wiring and soldering and ruin my guitar. Much less hassle to just buy a pre-wired pickup set. So up to you guys!
