Ibanez RG721rw - Review

I had been looking for this guitar for quite some time before I finally ordered one from Bajaao. Bajaao had just two pieces in stock. The first time I saw this guitar was in a video by Rick Graham on youtube and it seemed just perfect and a high quality and expensive instrument. But when I researched about it, I came to know it is not even a Prestige series Ibanez. As far as Ibanez Asia website is concerned, this is the only fixed bridge guitar in the Premium series. Not sure if newer models have come now.Coming on to the specifications, it has an American Basswood body with rosewood top. The other model has a Flamed maple top and looks elegant as well. For no special reasons I chose the rosewood one. The neck is a 5 piece Wizard neck. The neck is as slimmer as it can get. The hand grips the neck comfortably. It is much easier to play legato, sweep picking phrases and vibrato on this neck. The access to higher frets is also good. The body shape is very comfortable and the guitar is not at all heavy. The fret job is really good. There are no sharp fret ends and feel on the neck and fingerboard is butter smooth.Coming to the electronics, the pickups are passive alnico humbuckers. The 5 way selector switch gives you wide variety of options. I use the 4th position a lot when playing with acoustic simulators. Many of the reviews have expressed dissatisfaction over the pickups but I found them good. Atleast I do not feel like changing them as of now. Option can be explored depending on your personal preferences. Not to mention about the tuning machines. The Tuning machines hold the tunings well. I have never felt that the tuners were weak or are ineffective.Overall the instrument does look premium. The finishing is simply elegant. Getting this instrument at this price with freebies is a good deal keeping in view that the instrument is a bit hard to find in India (Dont know what the reason is). Lastly, I had a good time interacting with the bajaao executive over th...
