Review of the Laney LX120RT Guitar Combo Amplifier

I had checked out the Amp at a music store and it seemed to be the right price/power ratio for small/medium club gigs. I was also getting an awesome discount from Bajaao.com so I decided to go for it!. The amp was delivered lightening fast. Kudos Bajaao! :-)Now for the amp itself:This is a solid state amp and the third amp I've owned. I also have a Marshall solid state and a Fender combo vintage tube amp. I also own Ibanez RG series 350 with Di Marzio pickups (2H, 1S)My primary purpose in purchasing this amp was to use it with my POD HD500.To test this amp, I dialed in two sets of patches for the POD - one set with just effects, no amp models, and the other set with amp models - only the pre-amps, not the cabinets.SETUP 1: CLEAN: Guitar straight into the amp - clean channel (no external effects at all, just guitar and amp).+ Great tone (for a solid state)- Lacks powerSETUP 2: BLUES/Rock: Guitar straight into the amp - dirty channel (no external effects at all, just guitar and amp).+ Again, clear cutting blues or rock tones once the drive and eq on the amp was set.+ Sufficient power for blues / rock rhythm and solos.SETUP 3: METAL: Guitar straight into the amp - dirty channel (no external effects at all, just guitar and amp).+ Sufficient power- Average tone for rhythm or lead even though gain was maxed out.SETUP 4/5/6 - CLEAN/BLUES/METAL - Guitar into POD into PowerAmp IN (rear section of the amp)After dialling in the patches on the POD and tweaking, I was able to get exactly the tones and the power that I was looking for. Loved this!OVERALL: Great value for money, needs external effects to deliver tone for heavier sound. Don't expect it to sound like a tube amp, though :-)I hoping to buy one more of these so that I can use them in stereo, if needed for bigger gigs!
