The band functionality is its biggest USP. You play a chord progression, riff, etc and the TRIO+ will come up with backing drums and bass (which are editable to a certain extend). The same input may not result in the same out from TRIO+ at different times. In this sense it is not perfect but I am guessing the designers have tried to simulate idiosyncratic human element. If you are in a band you'd know that on different days band members may respond differently to your piece of music. The looper adds more functionality. If you have the money definitely give it a shot!
