(Daily 10AM - 7PM)
Roland has been a top brand in the music company for its sound and appreciation value. That's the main reason I went for this drum set. And it did not fail me. The sound quality is amazing (of course that depends on the amp you use) and the touch is very realistic. You are going to enjoy this piece.
Pros:-Ultra portable- TD-4 is an intuitive module- Very good triggering response-great investment for a drummer on the moveCons:-Sacrifices some playability for portability- Mesh snare option would better but can be added any day
Feel: The feeling of playing an acoustic kit can't be matched by this nor by the pro series of V drums or Yamaha. For that hybrid drum kit is the option out. However, the most simple yet decently built drum rubber pads the kit offers is great for practicing and even playing intimate gigs. Replace the snare with mesh head (PDX-8) and you'd do yourself a favor!Sound: As far as sounds, the module TD-4 is the one where Roland becomes serious about giving you good sounds and intuitive navigation.I think you can definitely record these sounds. They are limited but great sounding. Post produce those sounds in a DAW and you have a great drum production! For a specific custom kit sounds I will choose triggering a virtual instrument like "Superior Drummer" or "Ez Drummer" or plethora of sampled kits options I have in Kontakt. It takes a traditional 5 pin midi out to midi in/usb connection to send the signals onto your DAW.Portability & Compact design: May not interest everyone, but it was decisive to select this kit over a TD-4k or TD-4KX. I can literally pack this kit and carry it along with me where ever the jam session or gig is or even to place for weekend outings. That's great power - the mobility.Misc - The cymbals do have choke functionality, its not exactly how it is in flagship V-drums but definitely works. You can't load your own sounds, you can tweak and modify the kit using individual drum parts to build your own custom kit. Spoilers: I would not recommend the kit to any drummer who whacks the kit during the performance or practice. Not that it can't take it, but would surely reduce the lifespan of the hardware. Deal: The best deal I got in Bombay was at Bajaao. Second best at..... it doesn't matter, does it now ;)
