Groovy Arpeggio Exercises0 out of 5 based on 0 voters. In this lesson a figure will be given for 7 modes. Each figure will be an altered arpeggio and each will develop a slightly different skill set. The mode may only be a starting point and several of these exercises will shift to another position on the neck. (The key the exercises are in are arbitrary, just where I developed them originally) B IONIAN (short scale runs within the sweep. Use to develop the ability to eliminate pauses between sweep picking to picking through a scale) A DORIAN (Develop a technique to move quickly and smoothly down the neck) E PHRYGIAN (Fragmental arpeggio motion down the neck into full sweep motion also moving down the neck) E LYDIAN (Delayed motion at top of the lick and bottom uses similar motion to shift up the neck) E MIXOLYDIAN (Also has delayed motion but mostly just a cool feel to it) E AEOLIAN (Develop staggered picking motion to shift from top to bottom of the arpeggio) Exercise is played in B Phrygian position F# LOCRIAN (Shifts down neck top to bottom and returns to position from the bottom up. Exercise can be used a diminished repetition) Each exercise will develop a different technical ability and also can be utilized as transitional pieces from one position to another smoothly. Part II (Harmonic minor version) coming soon. Read more http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/guitar_techniques/groovy_arpeggio_exercises.html |
